The Building Inspector provides help for contractors and property owners with the process of applying for a building permit. During construction, the inspector provides guidance as to how to comply with building codes. At the end of construction, the inspector examines the work and issues a report stating that the work is complete and up to code or that deficiances need to be corrected.
Applying for a Building Permit
To apply for a building permit for commercial or residential construction, remodeling, plumbing work, electrical work, or any other type of work, go to the Building Inspector page and click on VARIOUS PERMITS. If that link does not work, a paper permiting system may still be in use until the town finds a new online permitting vendor.
For a housing development or a commercial or industrial property, you will have to go before the Zoning Board and then the Planning Board for approvals.
If you have difficulty with an online form, contact Building Inspector Todd Twine, who replaced Brian Arsenault in December 2025.
Building Inspector/Code Enforcement Officer
The Building Inspector operates part-time from Town Hall. If he is out performing an inspection, it is best to contact the Town Clerk with any building permit questions.
