Issues to Consider
January to March 2017 was Town Election Season. For results of the election, use the links at the bottom.
This year there were several issues to consider:
- Sewer Pump Station Bond The $1.616 million bond will pay for a new sewer pump station and piping to eliminate the flow that is pumped under the river to Pembroke. This is to be paid from sewer funds.
- School Budget The $10.4 million proposed 2017 school budget was cut to $10.0 million by the Budget Committee on Jan. 12 and then jacked up to $10.4 million at the Deliberative Session. This is $620,000 higher than the 2016 school budget. Estimated tax increase is $3.84/1,000.
- Teacher Raises This warrant article proposes a three-year contract with an increase of $75,256 (1%) for the first year.
- Paraprofessional Raises This warrant article proposes a three-year contrct with an increase of $27,160 (1%) for the first year.
