Town Hall Check town web site for current business hours. Press Release March 5, 2021 HILLSBROOK VILLAGEThe pandemic which halted economic activity across the US, did not deter Optimus Senior Living or the Town of Allenstown from working through approval of Hillsbrook Village, a 118-unit senior living community now under construction in Allenstown, featuring independent living, assisted living, and a secure memory care neighborhood (that is, a memory care unit) to help persons with memory loss. Michael McCarthy, a founding partner of Hillsbrook Village, credits the Town's resolve during a pandemic to prioritize economic development and its welcoming approach as key reasons for why Optimus of Southampton, Massachusetts continued to pursue such a large project during a pandemic when few would have had the steady nerve to attempt it. McCarthy added that what this public-private partnership does for Allenstown which granted tax-incentives, is to add about 50 full-time and 25 part-time jobs and more business activities while providing Hillsbrook Village easy access to seniors residing in communities from Manchester to Concord who want or need assistive care or a great place to connect with old friends. Hillsbrook Village of 15 Pinewood Road will open June 15th, 2022 to new residents and special rates will be available. Hillsbrook Village is operated by an affiliate, Everbrook Senior Living. Its website, www.everbrookseniorliving.com, expresses thoroughly what seniors and families can expect of Hillsbrook Village and it shows the fleet of sister communities that includes Stonebrook Village, Colebrook Village, and Elmbrook Village all of Connecticut, and Cedarbrook Village, a community in western Massachusetts. Hillsbrook Village will be a private-pay rental model with the type of assisted living license that enables a nurse to oversee a staff who assist residents in need with such things as a shower, medications, or escorting to and from an activity. All residents regardless of need are free to enjoy all the community has to offer such as its restaurant-style dining, social and therapeutic activities, and transportation to a place of interest, except the memory support neighborhood which offers a more structured environment to give residents the additional memory support they may need. Community floor plans show a beautiful four-story building set on 13 acres just off Route 3 featuring larger than average studio, one-bed, and two-bed apartments with handicapped-accessible bathrooms adjacent to each bedroom, a living room, and depending on the unit type, a full kitchen, balcony and stackable washer/drier reserved for independent living or kitchenettes and access to a laundry service or common area laundry for assisted living residents. Apartments have upscale features like wood cabinets and stainless-steel appliances accented in a contemporary décor while finished to look and feel virtually like a residential home. Memory care is secured with controlled access into a neighborhood that has a dining room, activity spaces, and studio apartments for single occupancy. The impression at Everbrook-managed communities is that its owners are authentic and available to help residents navigate their later life journey in style and grace, while staff are empowered to build rapport with residents and to be excellent at delivering services. There is an emphasis on delivering a better value and Everbrook is continuously innovating so that residents have the tools they need to preserve independence for longer. In fact, its acclaimed Wellness-4-Later Life includes a cutting-edged guided exercise program offered at no additional cost. Everbrook-managed communities like Hillsbrook Village employ an Exercise Physiologist who assists residents to maintain functional fitness with a goal to preserve independence for a longer time. The Exercise Physiologist will perform a fitness assessment and prescribe exercises for each enrolled resident including memory care residents to help them build functional fitness like getting up from a chair, navigating stairs, or carrying heavy objects, which are key elements needed to preserve independence for longer. Exercises are evidence-based, meaning they are backed by research as being effective for improving or maintaining functional fitness and safe as each resident is assigned to a safety class from chair-based to fully independent. Visitors who tour an Everbrook-managed community notice that wellness is a focal point of daily life for residents because when residents feel good they are generally more happy and contented. It is common to see physical therapy and the community's exercise staff working one-on-one with residents in the fitness center, a service taking place in the chapel, chair-volleyball is being played in an activity room, and a movie or travel show is being shown in the theater. Dining is first-rate as the Wellness-4 Later life nutritional program designs recipes following "MyPlate" of Tufts University, an evidence-based nutritional guide customized for older adults which our staff then modifies to suit seniors in later life. Everbrook employs culinary-trained chefs who prepare popular, senior-friendly meals from nutrient-dense foods, that is a food choice like Sheppard's Pie or Quiche which has high nutrient content in relation to total calories. While the chefs will alter food texture or restrict diets for therapeutic reasons, the philosophy at an Everbrook-managed community is to allow residents to indulge in a delicious piece of blueberry pie, a dish of ice cream, or a strawberry parfait in moderation. The intent is to evoke a sense of pleasure which promotes improved well-being while at the same time consuming good, wholesome foods that residents enjoyed growing up. When the visitor center is opened later this spring, there will be opportunity to meet with staff and discover all that Hillsbrook Village has to offer. In the meantime, interest should be directed through the Everbrook website: www.everbrookseniorliving.com.
