A Solemn Moment for Our POWS and MIAs

Dateline: June 1, 2021

At the May 3rd meeting of the Board of Selectmen, members of Rolling Thunder® NH Chapter 1 conducted a ceremony on the town hall lawn in which they dedicated a specially designed chair in memory of all our Prisoners of War (POWs) and those Missing in Action (MIAs).

They invited the Selectmen to attend the ceremony as their first item of business.

Bob McGuigan, a Rolling Thunder member, gave the presentation regarding the meaning and purpose of the chair.

After the ceremony, Selectman Scott McDonald spoke about the program with Rolling Thunder member Rich Caruso.

Selectman Keith Klawes discussed the POW/MIA issue with Fire Chief Paul St. Germain.

After the ceremony concluded, Rolling Thunder members departed and the selectmen retired to town hall to continue their business meeting.

This chair is now on display in the town hall's main meeting room.

What You Can Do

Whenever you go to town hall, take a minute to contemplate the Missing Man Chair, read the inscription, and think about those who sacrificed their lives in service to our country to preserve the American way of life.

Maybe it will help you recall to mind someone you once knew. Life is full of sad and happy events but it's the sad events that bring us closer together and strengthen the bonds between us and make us want to be there to comfort each other with the comfort with which God comforts us.

Whenever possible, let friends and family know about the POW/MIA issue. You can also write to your senators asking that they bring about legislative decisions that will increase actions to bring home all service personnel who have been left behind.
