Police Dept. Choice: 8 Notre Dame Ave.
Fire Dept. Choice: 32 Al's Ave.
Sorry if you missed the Christmas Light festivities on Dec. 17th. The weather cleared up midday Saturday, so thank God for that blessing. About 40 people turned out for the event.
We had a great time together and the Santa Tour of the town was fantastic with police cruisers fore and aft (and an EDC member riding shotgun and giving turn by turn directions), Santa and his EDC elves on Santa's sled, and three Fire Dept. trucks with lights flashing and sirens blaring. Santa and the elves then came over to mingle with the attendees.
We had a Christmas tree lit up in the Gazebo, and burn barrels and lots of firewood to keep warm (thanks to our friends at the Highway Dept.). The ARD Student Council sold cookies, brownies, and hot chocolate, and the ARD Student Chorus led us in singing Christmas carols. The elves then announced and handed out the awards, after which we wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Let's do this again next year!

Original annoucement:
The Allenstown Economic Development Committee (EDC), in collaboration with the ARD Student Council and the ARD School Chorus, invites residents to participate in the
FOURTH Annual Christmas Light Contest
Many of you may be feeling gloomy, uncertain, or frustrated in these days of high inflation, high gas prices, high food prices, high crime rates, and high numbers of illegal aliens invading our southern border, but we all need something to hope for. For many, Christmas is just such a time and decorating your home with lights can make one feel hopeful. So if you are decorating the outside of your home, we hope you will register your home for this contest.
As a special treat for the youngsters, Santa and his sled will tour the town with a police escort and possibly a fire engine to boot. The tour starts at the Police Station and ends at Town Hall in time for the winter bonfire. Along the route, Santa will hand out candy to waiting children. See the flyer to the right for details.
To make the occasion more festive and enjoyable, the ARD Student Council will hold a bake sale with refreshments to enjoy. Also, Michael Kenyon, ARD Music Teacher, will lead the ARD Music Chorus in a round of Christmas Carols. Afterward, the contest awards will be announced.
