A Great Day for a Parade

Dateline: Aug. 29, 2024

Saturday August 24th was a warm, sunny day, and, on School Street earlt that morning, enthusiastic Allenstown residents lined the sides of the street with lawn chairs and blankets as they eagerly awaited this year's Old Home Day Parade to begin.

Arriving earlier from Route 3, one could see the side streets filled with scores of marchers, classic cars, tractors, Army trucks, floats, and police and fire vehicles waiting for the signal to start.

This photographer was stationed across the street from Town Hall where there was a good view of the parade coming over the crest of the road, passing by, and heading for Suncook Village.

The following photos capture the highlights of this exciting once-a-year event that marked the successful collaboration between the towns of Allenstown and Pembroke. This year's theme was "Let the adventure begin."
