A Great Day for the Santa Parade and the Christmas Lighting Awards Ceremony

Dateline: Dec. 14, 2024

The Parade

There was no medical emergency call to answer or fire to put out but, from noon until almost 2 p.m., the Santa Parade traversed the streets of Allenstown with sirens and horns blaring and emergency lights flashing.

The entourage included police cruisers with EDC member and EMT Ron Adinolfo in the lead cruiser giving turn by turn directions, followed by the Rescue 2 truck, Chief Lambert in the black car, the new Tower 2 Ladder Truck with Santa and Mrs. Claus in the big bucket, Engine No.1, and the new Ambulance 1.

The Parade vehicles finally pulled onto Library Street and many returned to the Fire Station to get ready for the Fire Dept. Meat Raffle to be held at 6 p.m. at the American Legion in Suncook Village.

Santa and Mrs. Claus (AKA Carter and Penny) waved to residents from the bucket and then came down to get warm. EMT Ron Adinolfo and Fire Chief Eric Lambert discussed the day's events.

CONTEST WINNERS

The following winners who were chosen by EDC members, the Police Dept., and the Fire Dept. The PD and FD were told to pick any home, not just the registered ones. The awards consisted of trophies and gift certificates to local businesses (because the EDC always promotes local businesses).

Second Place: Jason & Melissa Lamarche, 8 Notre Dame Ave.
Third Place: Earl and Terry Day, 26 Cross Street
Fire Dept. Choice: Cheryl Forsberg-Hill, 3 Bailey Ave.
Police Dept. Choice: Earl and Terry Day, 26 Cross Street

The Ladder Truck lingered while Santa and Mrs. Claus came over to meet with folks attending the Awards Ceremony. Several families asked to take photos of their kids with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

We set up burn barrels near the gazebo to help people warm up since temps were in the mid 30s. Most of the contestants brought their kids to the ceremony.

EDC Vice Chairman Rich Caruso brought hot chocolate and cookies for the parents and their children. EDC Chairman Michael Frascinella announced the winners, who were quite pleased with being selected. EDC member Crystal Robbins engaged the children and later took photos. For a final activity, EDC members led the people in singing several Christmas Carols.
