Allenstown Remembers 9/11

Dateline: Sept. 15, 2025

A Memorial Service was held at 9:15 a.m. on September 11, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown, NH. This was held to remember and pay tribute to the 2,977 people killed and the numerous people who were injured during the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, now 24 years ago. These attacks occurred in New York City, Washington, DC, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The Allenstown Fire Department was well represented in the front pews.

On the stairs to the altar a wooden cross and the uniforms of a firefighter and ambulance EMT was placed in memory of those first responders who gave their lives trying to save people in the burning buildings.

Father Andre Nadeau opened the service with a prayer and remarks about that sad day and how our rights and freedoms come from God. He also read the message of condolences that Pope John Paul II wrote to the American people.

Selectwoman Diane Adinolfo then led a responsive reading of short prayers.

When people were offered the opportunity to speak, Michael Frascinella picked up on Father Nadeau remarks about our rights and freedoms by reading from the Declaration of Independence that "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." These were the rights the terrorists were trying to destroy. He concluded with a recollection of the attack on the World Trade Towers as recorded in the documentary by the Naudet brothers.

Father Andre Nadeau then offered final prayers and blessings.
