Movie Night and Dinner at the Fire Station

Dateline: Oct. 22, 2025

You could tell something was going on inside the fire station on October 4th, what with all the emergency vehicles parked outside. That afternoon, Allenstown firefighters set up serving tables and covered the windows with tarps to keep out the late afternoon sun. EDC members and other friends of the Fire Dept. helped set up for serving meals.

Firefighter/EMT Austin LaDuke and other firefighters set up the inflatable screen and movie projection equipment. When people started arriving they showed cartoons for pre-movie entertainment.

Shortly after 5:00, people started arriving, set up their chairs, and ordered their meals. Several volunteers, including Liz Joyce, Lisa Towle, Diane Adinolfo, and Grace Sartorelli, staffed the serving tables and kept restocking the warming trays as the hot dogs and cheeseburgers came in from the grill.

Outside, behind the equipment bays, Chef Keith Klawes (School Board member and former Selectman) expertly cooked dozens of cheeseburgers and hot dogs during the dinner hour as people arrived and purchased their meals.

At 6:00 the free movie, How to Train Your Dragon, opened on the big screen.

Even after having a meal of cheeseburgers or hot dogs, chips, and soda, there is always room for fresh popped popcorn while watching the movie, especially when it's free popcorn. The EDC had purchased the machine and lent it to the Fire Dept. for events such as this.

During the movie, Ron Adinolfo (AEMT and EDC member) kept the kernels popping. This "pop-ular" snack delighted the youngsters who came with their families to watch the show.

The movie was fun to watch but we had hoped for a larger turnout, especially since it was being shown for free. With about three dozen attendees plus all the volunteers, it was less of a crowd than last year.
