Allenstown announced the list of open town and school positions that need to be filled at the March 10th election, from Selectman to Budget Committee members to School District members. If interested in running for office, you need to submit a Written Declaration of Candidacy to the Town Clerk between January 21 and January 31.

The Hooksett Bridge newspaper is sponsoring a Candidates Night on February 25th at the Allenstown Town Hall. This gives residents an opportunity to meet the candidates, hear their reasons for running, and ask them questions about their priorities.

Since most of you missed the Jan. 11 Public Budget Hearing, be sure to attend the Deliberative Session (AKA the Deliberative Smack down) at 9 a.m. on Jan. 31 at the Community School on River Road. At that session, you can make amendments to budgets and warrant articles, such as cutting the $15 million school budget.

In addition, the Economic Development Committee (EDC) asks residents to please volunteer for the Parks & Recreation Commission, which now has NO MEMBERS. Because of that, the EDC has taken upon itself to organize or promote community initiatives like concerts, the Farmers' Market/Craft Fairs, Movie Night, and other events for the benefit and enjoyment of residents.

2. Town Clerk/Tax Collector - One for a term of three years.
3. Sewer Commission - One for a term of three years.
4. Supervisor of the Checklist - One for a term of six years.
5. Supervisor of the Checklist - One for a term of four years.
6. Library Trustees - One for a term of one year.
7. Library Trustees - One for a term of three years.
8. Trustee of Trust Fund - One for a term of three years.
9. Trustee of Trust Fund - One for a term of one year.
10. Cemetery Trustees - One for a term of three years.
11. Cemetery Trustees - One for a term of one year.
12. Town Moderator - One for a term of two years.
13. Budget Committee - Three for a term of three years.
14. Budget Committee - Three for a term of two years.

Open School Positions:

1. School Moderator - One for a term of one year.
2. School Clerk - One for a term of one year.
3. School Board - Two for a term of three years.
4. School Treasurer - One for a term of one year.
