Double the Fun with Tastings and Giveaways at the Grand Re-Opening
Dateline: Apr. 26, 2026
The Double Decker Convenience Store is celebrating 17 years in business with a Grand Re-Opening from May 2nd to May 8th in its new location. See the flyer.
Having first opened in 2009, the store was rebranded to its current name in 2017. Aptly so since it is near the double decker bridge on Route 3 straddling the Suncook River and connecting Allenstown and Pembroke. Owner Carol Dalton said a friend of her daughter was studying graphic design and created their logo.
The Facebook site states this: "Your local one-stop shop for all your convenience & smoke shop needs!"

Why Allenstown?
Owner Carol Dalton is a long-time Allenstown resident. She admitted that her background was in Human Resources (HR). After several years in different HR positions, she said "I decided I wanted to not work for someone else, but wanted a store where I could offer the town low-priced options. I was able to find great staff to operate the store and the people of Allenstown have been wonderful."
"We opened 'The Store' in 2009 and rebranded it to its current name in 2017. In April 2026, the property we were renting next to the diner became inadequate and we decided to move into the former craft shop space next to the Subway shop. It offered a lot more interior square footage. We discussed the situation with the Subway shop owner and came to an agreement to support each other."

Goods and Services at Double Decker
"We offer good customer service and enjoy interacting with our customers. We go above and beyond with customer service because it's important."
"Our products include, beer, wine, soda, coffee, low-priced cigarettes, cigars, lottery tickets, chips, sweet snacks, incense, and even fishing supplies like worms."
"We are good at answering customers' requests."
As an example of enterpreurial skill, Ms. Dalton explained that the coolers in the following photos were obtained from Rite Aid after they went bankrupt.

The big outreach will be the Grand Re-Opening featuring
- Free tastings (beer representatives offering samples to customers of legal age)
- Free coffee with any purchase
- A chance to win one of many prizes
- Spinning the wheel after a $10 lottery purchase for a chance at NH lottery prizes
Other plans include holding a coat drive, supporting activities to help children, and supporting Toys for Tots.
Looking Toward the Future
Ms. Dalton stated that "The main goal is to make this business successful. Also I want to provide a business that my daughter can eventually manage independently."
