A Fine Parade with Many New Entries

Dateline: Aug. 24, 2026

Saturday opened with a light mist in the air but by parade time at 10:00 a.m. the skies settled into a solid overcast gray with temps holding in the low 70s.

After arriving at 9:45 a.m., parking at Town Hall, and walking over to School Street, George and Lisa Lemire said "Hi" so that seemed like a good location for photographing the parade and engagaging in light conversation.

Last year was sunny so the other side of the street was better because the sun was behind the camera, clearly illuminating the parade participants.

The sight of flashing blue lights at the crest of the road signaled the start of the parade. It turned out to be another great example of the collaboration of Allenstown and Pembroke for the enjoyment of their residents and visitors.

The following photos and videos offer highlights of the sights and sounds of that morning. The theme was "Historic America" with many floats honoring the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
