A time to visit the school and Dateline: Sep. 11, 2026 On a bright sunny Thursday afternoon, scores of cars headed to the Community School (ACS) on River Road. Parents were bringing their children to the Open House held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. on September 10th.

A steady breeze kept the American flag waving in the waning sunlight. Upon entering the school, one could see dozens of visitors moving along the main corridor, going in and out of the gym, stopping at information tables, and visiting classrooms off the main corridor.
Parents and children explored the halls Jaclyn Rohr is the new School Principal as of July 1, 2026. A Farewell Party was held for former Principal Shannon Kruger who retired at the end of June 2026 after nine years of dedicated service. We wish her a happy retirement. Ms. Rohr took the time to comment on today's event and plans for the coming year.
Near the main entrance, Principal Jaclyn Rohr greeted visitors. "I'm thrilled to share that this year's open house was a great success. We had so many families join us, including parents, grandparents, and siblings, and there were lots of smiles, laughs, and great conversations happening throughout the building. It truly was a special evening for our school community. The Allenstown Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) had a station in the main lobby and talked to many parents. Look closely at their logo which includes a soaring eagle, the school mascot. Led by President Dayna Bolser and Vice-President Lily Vanvu, the Allenstown PTO is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to enrich the educational and social environment of the Allenstown Community School for the benefit of its students.
Members of the Parent-Teachers Organization (PTO) talked to parents Of importance was a trip to the cafeteria at the back of the building to meet some friends. What do you do for people who came to an event right around the traditional dinnertime? Why you provide some food! The school prepared for this contingency. Outside the cafeteria, they set up two large propane grilling stations along the back wall, staffed by two dedicated cooks.
Cooks Du Jour: Liz Joyce and Matt LaFlamme Hot dogs and cheeseburgers were being cooked for the parents and children who came to the event. EDC Vice Chair Liz Joyce and Deputy Town Clerk Matt LaFlamme were busy cooking food as fast as they could for the eager visitors.
Food disappeared as soon as it was served. With food in hand, parents and children sat on the outdoor patio tables and enjoyed an outdoor meal together.
Many people sat down to enjoy their food. What You Can DoWatch for details about upcoming community events at the school. One such event is just before Halloween, on Friday October 23rd. The EDC is sponsoring a Trunk or Treat Event outside the school and announcing the awards for the Annual Halloween Lighting Contest. Inside the school, the PTO is sponsoring a Halloween Howl. |
