Allenstown Aggregate & Recycling
The Thibeault Corporation of New England which owns and operates Allenstown Aggregate & Recycling has been in the excavating business since 1983 (42 years). They are based in Londonderry, NH.
Why choose Allenstown?
About 20 years ago, the owners took the opportunity to purchase the land in Allenstown. This is their only rock quarry which encompasses about 110 acres. They own several abutting properties south of Granite St. giving a combined total of over 300 acres with frontage on Granite St.
Allenstown Aggregate & Recycling produces, sells, and delivers many types of aggregate products throughout Southern New Hampshire. Located at 169 Granite Street, Allenstown, NH, which is next door to the Allenstown Highway Dept., this business offers the highest quality products to contractors and homeowners.
Primary Goods and Services
Products include:
- Aggregate products like crushed gravel, crushed stone, erosion stone, ledge pack, stone dust, and landscape rocks.

How do you get from solid rock to finished products? As shown in the preceding photo, once a year rock is blasted from the head wall. The rock is then loaded into crushers and screeners to create the different gravel sizes. The finished products are then moved into piles using front end loaders.
Community Outreach
During 2024, the Allenstown Highway Dept. was nearing the end of a long running project to reclaim the old B&M Railroad bed and turn it into a Community Rail Trail to Hooksett. The town would have faced a large cash expenditure were it not for the generous donation of paving materials by Allenstown Aggregate. In a spirit of economic generosity, the company donated tons of 3/4-inch crushed stone and stone dust from its quarry. The Highway Dept. used these materials to resurface the railroad bed.
When asked what prompted this amazing donation, Manager Aaron Firman offered the following recollection: "Allenstown Aggregate has been a successful part of the town for many years and we decided that, as a member of the community, it was important to give something back to the town. The Rail Trail Project was a good way for us to support the town, so we donated the gravel and stone dust so that residents and visitors could have a new, safe place for hiking and biking."
Recent Expansion and Plans for the Near Future
A site plan was approved by the Planning Board in November 2020 that subdivided five acres along Granite St. from the main property. The result was a six-unit multi-tenant commercial building for uses such as a warehouse, contractor shop, retail hardware sales, repair shop, or service business. Construction began in December 2021 and was completed in 2022. The building at 179 Granite St. is serviced by town water and an onsite septic system.
The six units were then leased/rented to the following businesses:
- Advanced Comfort: offers professional installation services for a wide range of HVAC systems, such as air conditioning, heating, and ductless mini-splits.
- Supreme Industries: is a contractor for Eversource providing right-of-way clearing, access road, and site preparation. They occupy two units.
- Purmore Disposal: offers weekly curbside pickup of both trash and recycling. It offers over 55 and military discounts.
- Martin's Landscaping and Construction: offers landscaping services, hardscapes, irrigation, and snow plowing. Military and law enforcement discounts are available.
- An online sales company.
A second six-unit multi-tenant commercial building is being planned. Construction may be in the Fall of 2025. This building will tie into the onsite septic system and connect to the town water line. As with the first building, a site plan will need to be approved by the Allenstown Planning Board.
Plans for the Plourde Sand & Gravel Property
On January 16, 2025 in a chilly equipment garage at the Route 3A Hooksett property, McInnis Auctions oversaw the bidding on the two Plourde properties in Allenstown and Hooksett. At the last round of bidding, Vinnie Iacozzi of Thibeault Corp. bid $2.3 million but was outbid by Mr. van Zanten, agent for Greenlake Asset Management of Pasadena, CA, who offered the final bids of $2.4 million for the Allenstown site and $3.2 million for the Hooksett site.
Mr. Firman disclosed that, in late April 2025, Allenstown Aggregate purchased the 68 acre property from Greenlake. Because the property has spent the last few years in and out of bankruptcy court, back taxes of about $165,000 have accumulated. The company plans to negotiate with the town to resolve that issue.
The Plourde property gives Allenstown Aggregate a new source of sand and gravel. Mr. Firman estimated that it will take a few years to excavate enough material so that the property can be developed for businesses. There are no plans yet for the property but possible uses might be a supermarket, restaurant, bank, as well as retail, commercial, and professional spaces.
