Scott agreed to take the time to explain various aspects of the business. Bob St. Germain, owner of the property, stopped by to chat with Scott and Richard and wish them many years of success.

Why Allenstown?

When asked the question, "Why here?" he explained, " I've lived in town all my life. When I was a kid, I used to come here to Beaudet's Automotive to get air for my bike tires. I later wanted to start up a repair shop, and when Beaudet's became available, we jumped at the opportunity."

He continued saying, "We are currently renting the shop and cleaning it up. We hope to be able to purchase the property soon. We have already talked with Todd Twine, the new Building Inspector, about installing a new business sign on the sign post out front. Mr. Twine thought that was a great idea and helped us with the permit and other requirements.

Richard Tether wanted to include this: "We thank Bob St. Germain" [the current owner] "for giving us the opportunity to continue forward on his helping the community by keeping the same mechanical service going that he did, hopefully for another 50 years."

How Did You Come Up with Your Business Name?

The origin of the business name is quite unusual. Scott explained the origin this way. "My father and I were bouncing a lot of names back and forth when we started noticing the word "Dudes" on Coca Cola bottles, on social media, and on billboards. The name stood out for us. Then the word "Local" seemed to fit because we are a local family. That's how we came up with Local Dudes Auto Repair."

When asked if they also serviced vehicles owned by Local Dudettes, Scott said, "Of course!"

Community Outreach

When asked about ideas for community outreach, Scott stated that, "We want to help build community spirit. We hope to sponsor local soccer and baseball teams. We are also planning a Grand Opening in the Spring with a cookout for customers. We also look forward to participating in the Old Home Day Parade in August."

Scott also wanted to mention that "For active duty military, veterans, and first responders, we offer a 15% discount on auto repairs."

Plans for the Near Future

"Our plan is to grow the business. We have several customers who live at 25 Canal [the old China Mill]. We are considering using coupons to market the business to people there. We know that a satisfied customer is more willing to mention us to friends and neighbors so coupons for new customers might attract more business."
