Town Government StructureLocal government consists of several governing bodies (AKA kingdoms) that perform separate functions and fund their operations through distinct taxation. The Town Government (Board of Selectmen), School District, and Sewer Commission administer their own functions, working in cooperation with each other but independent of each other.

Board of Selectmen: Typically meets every two or three weeks as needed, Mondays, 6:00 p.m., Town Hall Budget Committee: Meets on selected dates, at 6:00 p.m., Allenstown Community Center. Planning Board: Typically meets on the first and third Weds. at 6:30 p.m., Allenstown Town Hall. Economic Development Committee: Typically meets on the second and fourth Weds. at 6:30 p.m., Allenstown Town Hall. Zoning Board: Meets as needed on Weds. at 6:30 p.m., Allenstown Town Hall. School Board: usually meets monthly at AES.
